Diana Paardekooper
Clinical Psychologist

Location: Mona Vale

Diana is an experienced and dedicated Clinical Psychologist who has completed a bachelor of Arts and Sciences at Sydney University. Additionally, she has completed two further postgraduate courses at Macquarie University, a Diploma of Psychology and a Diploma of Professional Psychology. More recently Diana has completed the Masters of Clinical Psychology, in which she was awarded the Australian Psychological Society college of clinical psychologists student prize, which highlights high levels of clinical skill and the ability to design and conduct clinically relevant research.

Diana is skilled and experienced in counselling individuals and facilitating therapeutic groups for adults with a variety of issues such as depression, anxiety, relationship problems, issues with self-esteem, substance use and sleep difficulties. Diana has also worked as a Lifeline counsellor who is well trained and experienced in assisting and counselling people in crisis and is trained in suicide intervention.

Furthermore, Diana has had experience in the assessment of children and adolescents with a range of difficulties. Diana is also well trained and experienced in working with children and families with a range of difficulties, such as anxiety or behavioural problems (e.g. oppositional and defiant behaviour) and offers parent management training for these concerns.

Diana utilises evidence-based treatments such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behaviour therapy (DBT) as primary modes of therapy, however, she believes each client is unique, so any psychological assistance should suit the individual’s needs, and she is adaptive in her application of therapeutic intervention with each client. Diana regularly participates in individual and peer supervision, professional development activities, and is registered with the national board of psychologists.

Diana’s special areas of interest include working with adults presenting with anxiety, OCD, phobias, self-esteem issues, depression and relationship difficulties, as well as working with children and adolescents. In addition to her work at Bpsych clinic, Diana facilities psychological groups at Northside Clinic, a private mental health hospital.

Diana is passionate about her work and strives to provide an empathic, personal and professional service. She is a gentle and caring psychologist who works from our Mona Vale office.
