Ilana Akstein

Ilana holds an Honors Degree in Clinical Psychoanalysis from the University of Santa Ursula (Rio de Janeiro,Brazil) and is a registered member of the Australian Counselling Association.

Ilana is an experienced psychoanalyst, having worked in private practice seeing adults, couples and children, with a special interest in anxiety, depression and self-esteem issues. Ilana also has a particular interest in working with infertility issues, as well as recent immigrants to Australia and the issues they face settling in the country and culture. Ilana worked as a psychoanalyst on some governmental social projects in needy communities in Brazil.

 

Ilana will often adjust her techniques to meet the client’s needs as each individual is unique and demands a different hearing/ approach. Ilana is integrating Mindfulness in her sessions, finding the method can be very useful at times.

Ilana is the author of a honours-thesis entitled “Psychoanalysis and Holocaust: an intersectional approach”
