Leroy Wiseman
Psychotherapist

Location: Telehealth - Video Consultation

Leroy Wiseman is a psychotherapist with a special interest in supporting adolescents, young adults, and adults. He works with people experiencing anxiety, depression, difficulties with anger and emotional regulation, relationship and family difficulties, life transitions, men’s mental health concerns, and the lasting effects of childhood trauma and attachment wounds.

His approach is grounded in relational, humanistic psychotherapy, with an emphasis on experiential and embodied processes. His work is informed by interpersonal neurobiology and integrates Internal Family Systems (IFS), Person-Centred Therapy, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and mindfulness-based approaches.

Leroy believes that meaningful psychological change begins within a safe and authentic therapeutic relationship, where people feel understood, develop greater self-awareness, and explore and integrate their inner experiences with curiosity and compassion.

Rather than applying a fixed therapeutic approach, Leroy works collaboratively and responsively to each client’s needs, history, strengths, and goals. He is particularly interested in helping clients develop a more compassionate relationship with themselves, understand and transform difficult emotions and internal patterns, and develop greater emotional flexibility and capacity for meaningful relationships.

Drawing on over a decade of mindfulness practice, Leroy supports clients in developing their own mindfulness and meditation practices where appropriate, helping them cultivate greater awareness, emotional regulation, and a deeper connection with their experience. With a background in philosophy, he is also comfortable exploring questions of identity, values, meaning, and clarifying how clients want to live their lives.

Leroy holds a Master of Psychotherapy and Counselling from Western Sydney University, a Bachelor of Social Science in Philosophy, and is a Certified Practising Member of the Psychotherapy & Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA).

Before entering private practice, Leroy co-created and led the youth suicide prevention program Open Up with One Eighty Inc. He has also developed and delivered training in suicide prevention, interpersonal communication, healthy relationships, men’s mental health, group facilitation, and mindfulness.
