Simon Harvey
Counsellor

Location: Mona Vale

Simon is a qualified counsellor and is a registered member of Certified Practising Counsellors Australia. He began the pivot into a counselling career around the time of Covid following a successful earlier career in broadcast media and audio production. A desire for more fulfilling professional interactions and to help others through rocky parts of their lives led this shift.

Simon sometimes tells clients: “You’re the ‘captain’ of your own life but I’ll help you navigate”. This  neatly sums up his approach with people. Simon can help navigate the issues that many of us face sooner or later with a commonsense, practical approach informed by an abundance of lived experience. From relationship challenges with intimate partners, family or friends to separation and co-parenting and the complexities of re-coupling, to the roles of parent and step-parent and the turmoil of raising teenagers.

He understands the weight that these moments can bring especially when emotions are running high or when coping with the emotional turbulence of others. He also supports clients with a range of concerns including the loss of a loved one, career shifts, major life decisions, and the challenges of seeing elderly family members decline.

Simon is a warm and engaging communicator who’s non-judgemental, inclusive and empathetic and can often bring a new perspective to the difficult things people are navigating in their lives. He works with a wide range of clients on a broad range of issues and especially with those who are most comfortable talking with an older, male counsellor.
